A repeatable site method

Reinstate drilled openings without routine boarding below

HoleMole provides a permanent galvanised-steel former beneath the repair. Its folding sections pass through the measured core, open below the slab and are held in position with reusable equipment while the specified repair material is placed from the working level.

  • Helps reduce temporary shuttering work beneath suitable horizontal cores.
  • Supports a consistent sequence across planned M&E and fit-out programmes.
  • Allows the team to select an appropriate former for openings from 50–317mm.
  • Works with the project-approved grout, mortar or repair compound.

Former selection

One system. Five working ranges.

Measure the clear diameter of the prepared opening before choosing a Mole. The former must pass through the core and provide the correct overlap against sound concrete beneath the slab.

01 50–75mm 2–3in openings
02 75–115mm 3–4.5in openings
03 115–170mm 4.5–6.75in openings
04 170–240mm 6.75–9.5in openings
05 240–317mm 9.5–12.5in openings

Nominal coverage is a selection guide. Confirm the actual prepared opening, seating condition and approved repair detail before installation.

Installation sequence

Three controlled stages

Prepare the opening and chosen repair material to the approved project method, then follow the system sequence.

Introduce the former

Lower the selected Mole

Connect the threaded rod, fold the one-way sections and pass the former through the prepared core. Pull upwards after it clears the underside so the steel former opens and seats beneath the slab.

Establish support

Retain it with the stand

Position the Mole Stand over the opening and guide the rod through its centre. Depress the SpeedNut release, slide it down the rod and tighten it so the former remains correctly held for placement.

Complete the repair

Place, finish and release

Use the Speed Chute to direct the specified material into the core and finish the surface. Once the material reaches the required set, remove the reusable equipment and treat the rod in accordance with the approved detail.

Where it fits

Built for coordinated construction and services work

HoleMole is suited to projects where teams need a planned, accessible approach to reinstating suitable concrete cores after service routes change or redundant openings are identified.

Services coordination

For redundant or repositioned openings arising during mechanical and electrical installation work.

Commercial fit-out

Supports an organised approach where floor layouts and building services evolve during delivery.

Maintenance works

Useful where access beneath an existing slab is restricted, disruptive or difficult to coordinate.

Project reinstatement

Creates a consistent workflow for programmes involving repeated drilled openings across a site.

Technical questions

Planning a HoleMole repair

These answers cover initial selection and use. Project-specific structural, fire, acoustic and waterproofing requirements must be confirmed by the responsible design team.

Can HoleMole be installed entirely from the upper workface?

For a suitable horizontal opening, the former, stand and filling tools are designed to be positioned from above. The finished repair must still follow the approved project detail and method statement.

Which parts of the system can be reused?

The Mole Stand, SpeedNut, Speed Chute and Wall Applicator are reusable when removed at the correct stage, cleaned and inspected. The selected galvanised-steel Mole remains beneath the repair.

How is the correct Mole size selected?

Measure the clear diameter of the prepared core and choose the stated range that provides suitable seating on sound concrete. The five-size range covers approximately 50–317mm openings.

Does HoleMole determine which repair material should be used?

No. The grout, mortar or repair compound must be selected for the substrate, dimensions, loading and any required fire, acoustic, water-resistance or durability performance.

Can the system be used at vertical openings?

A dedicated Wall Applicator and SpeedNut are available for compatible vertical applications. Confirm former selection, material suitability and the complete wall-repair detail before work starts.
